In our healthcare system, personal stories are often sidelined by clinical protocols, and both patients and providers can lose touch with the human experience. This is particularly the case for women, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. Come share your own medical journey—whether it involves pregnancy, chronic conditions, menopause, or primary care—or simply show up and hold space as a witness. The evening will be facilitated by Dr. Laura Colket and stories will be framed by gentle, grounding somatic exercises to help us stay present. This event is sponsored by Story House Ithaca.

It's tempting to treat storytelling as a communications function, something reserved for the annual report or the year-end appeal. But story is also one of the most underused strategic tools an organization has for navigating change from the inside out. Through this 1/2 day workshop, sponsored by the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County, nonprofit leaders will gain a practical framework for facilitating meaningful story work inside their own organizations, while gaining tools adaptable for both internal culture-building and external communications and fundraising.
